It’s 1987, and geeky Jenna wants to be popular. After her 13th birthday party goes awry, Jenna wishes she could just be 30 instead - only to wake up and discover that she’s flash-forwarded 17 years. A modern-day version of George Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion, where Zack Siler (Freddie Prinze, Jr.), is a Los Angeles high school hunk who’s been dumped by his popular, but mean-spirited, girlfriend Taylor Vaughn (Jodi Lynn O’Keefe) for a famous volleyball player (Matthew Lillard). Frustrated, Zack accepts a bet from his friends that he can turn Laney Boggs (Rachel Leigh Cook), a geeky girl into the school’s prom queen. Naturally he falls in love with her which leads to other complications from each other’s friends and enemies alike.

Young Andie is one of the not-so-popular girls in high school. She usually hangs out with her friends Iona or Duckie. Duckie has always had a crush on her, but now she has met a new guy from school, Blane. He’s one of the rich and popular guys but can the two worlds meet?

Vada Sultenfuss has a holiday coming up, and an assignment: to do and essay on someone she admires and has never met. She decides she wants to do an assignment on her mother, but quickly realises she knows very little about her. She manages to get her father to agree to let her go to LA to stay with her Uncle Phil and do some research on her mother. Once in LA, she finds herself under the protection of Nick, the son of Phil’s girlfriend, who at first is very annoyed at losing his holidays to escort a hick *girl* around town. However, he soon becomes more involved in the difficult search.

Lucas is a promising kid, bright, inquisitive, knowledgeable, industrious, but for a boy aged 14 those qualities don’t count for much socially, his daily life in high school is a brave but hopeless struggle against cruel ridicule (nicknamed ‘leukoplakia’) and abuse on account of his frail figure, ‘miniature’ size and athletic ineptitude, while any demonstration of precocious erudition is frowned upon by his ignorant, dumber peers and seniors, fortunately with one remarkable exception: the studly football team captain, generally known as Cappie, gallantly protects the ’shrimp’ and as soon as he gets to know Lucas appreciates his mind and courage, eager to learn from him. The arrival of an attractive new girl in his school and neighborhood proves a mixed blessing: Maggie becomes his best friend and companion, admiring his many talents, but inevitably she soon falls for Cappie the other way, so now his ‘big brother’ and protector seems little Lucas’s rival, however hard the hunk tries to stay friends…

Having returned from the north after finding nothing, Wolverine/Logan watches over the school students for a night as Charles Xavier visits Magneto in his plastic confinement prison and Storm and Jean Grey search for a teleporter mutant known as Nightcrawler who attempted to assassinate the president. Things become deadly as William Stryker, a scientist who has experimented on mutants, leads a siege on Xavier’s mansion- few mutants escape. With the school no longer safe, Magneto out of prison and forming a temporary alliance with the X-Men, and Professor Xavier in the hands of Stryker; the mutants team up to stop Stryker’s plans to wipe the mutants off the face of the Earth.

Across the world, children are born with an extra twist to their chromosomes that allow them to exhibit superhuman abilities: fire a beam of force from their eyes, or sprout wings that allow flight or being able to read men’s minds. These ‘children of the atom’ are often feared and despised by the world, forcing these ‘mutants’ to resort to desperate actions. However, one group of mutants have banded together to show the world that it need not fear their kind. Apart, they are simply scientific curiousities, freaks and monsters - but together, united by their shared belief, they are more - they are the uncanny X-Men.
